Where are we really at with covid?

 Everything I'm hearing in the news right now is saying things are getting better, but not all of the data is supporting this. One place you can check is the CDC's website. The first map below shows that most of the U.S. is still medium to high risk for covid.

What do each of these colors mean?

The map above clearly shows that we are nowhere near being back to normal. Maybe if 50-75% of the map was green you could argue that things are getting better, but based on the amount of orange alone it shows that people should still be concerned.

For Colorado it is looking like our death rate has dropped to levels that are close to last spring and summer.

Even with the drop the chart shows how just a few months later there was a stronger surge. Was it because people were letting their guard down? Don't know, but we need to keep watching it. Hopefully our medical system is also getting better at treating covid, but from my personal experience with Kaiser I do not have high expectations.

Everyone should keep watching the numbers so that they can make their own choices and not just be pressed into dropping masks and other protections due to others who just want 'freedom.'

3/4/22: "These US counties still have 'high' Covid-19 levels as their states lift mask mandates, CNN analysis shows"- The main thing that stood out to me in this article was the map of the US from the CDC that they pulled on 3/3 according to the text under the photo. I had pulled the map the same day as can be seen in the post I created on 3/3, but their map has a lot more green on it then mine did. Then when I went to the CDC's website today to try and verify if they just had a more updated map then the one I did, the map was entirely gone from the CDC's website. Ending Mask Mandates Coming Too Soon in Colorado and Nation Wide

Right now in Colorado many mask mandates have either expired or have been taken down. Some schools have even started this. Even the CDC is saying that it is too early to remove the mask mandates, but in today’s age who listens to science or experts or when science backs experts. “99% of US counties still have high levels of coronavirus transmission” and this is not being taken into account when it comes to ending mask mandates.[1]

Let’s look at the current cases in Colorado:

This shows that the overall cases are going down, but let’s look at the death rate that gives a darker picture:

This shows that even as overall cases are going down that the death rate remains high. This means that proportionally more people are dying from infections then when the cases were higher. This does not bode well for us.

This trend can also be seen nationwide with cases going down, but deaths staying the same. This is one of the key things that people have to look at, but many are choosing to ignore. 

What does all of this mean? With people taking the masks off to early it keeps setting us back and everything keeps getting dragged out. If people would have just went along with the mask mandates in the first place we could have been so much further ahead than we are in fighting the virus. Based on everything that is coming out and looking at the numbers people should continue to wear masks at least for a few more weeks like the CDC recommends. Then again everyone that takes off their mask early is just setting us behind making this pandemic last even longer.

I don't know how many times I have walked by someone and started coughing because I was forced to inhale smoke that they had just polluted the air with. It's those same type of people that not only don't care about their own health, but they also do not care about the health of those around them. Our society will always have people like this, and it will be society that must hold them accountable and push them off to the side. Global Perspectives

Even though the US is seeing some reductions and removing restrictions the rest of the world is not experiencing the same and their are high chances of more variants popping up. Even if people don't want to acknowledge that we are a global population, we are. COVID has plenty of chances to loop around. Kaiser Now Caught Being Responsible for a COVID Death that They Could Have Prevented

This is a great example of how Kaiser lies to its members. Telling her she can't get the vaccine and then she dies because she trusted them. It's things like this and not to mention the few stories I have shared on this blog (there are many other horror stories I can tell you about Kaiser that both I and my family members have experienced) that Kaiser should be held accountable and if not shut down charged with mass malpractice. I hope the family does go after them for wrongful death since they openly lied about the vaccine. I know that the next time my insurance comes up I will be leaving them even if I have to pay more. My life is worth the extra money since Kaiser seems to be trying to actively kill its members. If you are a Kaiser member I would recommend you leave them as quick as you can if you want to stay alive. Only if people start to leave them in mass will they learn about what they have done. Speak with your money and take your business elsewhere.
