Of all of the cons I have attended this year Anime Onsen is the first con to have zero covid measures in place. Other cons are verifying vaccine standing requiring people to have completed at least the primary shot(s) to be considered fully vaccinated. This con had nothing. First you have to look at the city it was held. Colorado Springs remains a red (conservative/Republican) area so it is not surprising that this would happen in this city vs. the Denver metro area. Also this con is ran by a big business that is outside of Colorado and they do not need to care about what happens with the community. This disconnect allows them to do things that can negatively impact a community and they do not have to deal with the after affects because they are not part of that community. By not having any health measures in place, people with any health issues either could not attend or took a risk of catching covid because their chance of catching it from unmasked and unmasked people are higher. This means that the con actively said that they did not care or want those that could be negatively impacted by covid through their actions if they did not use the words directly. The con ran 5/27-5/29.
